 How PeerMonitor works
|
How does PM work? Here's a brief rundown
- Load the config file descibing hosts and options
- Resolve any hosts using DNS
- Ping all hosts every N seconds
- Initialise Winsock
- Create an ICMP file handle
- Send an ICMP type 8 echo request (of "Echo this")
- Wait for a reply (ICMP type 0 message)
- Mark the button red, green, or orange (if the timeout expires)
- If one of the required hosts has gone over the mail threshold, send an email
- If one of the required hosts is red, make a sound
